One of my favourite dark berry figs. A very vigorous grower also. Its a later fig so I give it a bit of a head start in the greenhouse. These figs could have used a few more days ripening but noticed a drop of honey in one. Centres were full of honey. My two year old us going from a 3 to a 5 gallon this February. Gorgeous pics! __________________ Currently growing 50-60 varieties, this season's cuttings dependant. Hopefully I'll get to taste a few more this year...

Thanks guys... it definitely worth the extra effort to get them to ripen in my zone. And I should clarify... its 6' tall including the 20 gallon pot lol... Just wonder that in your climate, Is col de dame ripen their fig earlier than Bourjasotte Noire? __________________ - BC, Canada, PNW Zone 8 with windy ( Zone7 - branches damage at winter) - Wish list - Granthams Royal, RdB, any heavy breba varieties or early one crop varieties.

Indeed it is of beautiful color and looks great. greenhouse should be useful in our zone. My fig in the trees didn't grow for 2-3 weeks any more and I got rid of them. I should try greenhouse when it is possible in future. __________________ Thornhill-Vaughan (GTA) Zone 6 Beginner in 2015

I don't have Brogiotto Nero at this time but if you look closely the colors of the exterior do not quite match. I agree they seem similar, but without a side by side comparison?? Also given the fact that they are both very old varieties Brogiotto Nero a Roman fig and Bourjasotte Noire a very old production variety (syn. Violette de Sollies) it is possible they are distantly related but have varied over time. That being said look how many figs look similar but are non related in DNA tests. __________________ Currently growing 50-60 varieties, this season's cuttings dependant. Thanks everyone.. Ricky.. I haven't had any of my Cdd's produce figs for me yet (had some this year but they dropped) but I would think they would be as late if not later than BN from what I've read. Pino.. this one seems to put out figs in bunches similar to Maltese Beauty which is nice. Also wanted to mention that when our frosts hit I pulled off some figs that had started turning dark but were still rock hard. Latex oozed out of them when I picked them. I put them on the counter and within 4 or 5 days they had softened and were quite jammy interiors and tasted quite good. I was pleasantly surprised.
