Nice looking group!! I'm wondering about the Viista which is supposed to be a very good fig, comparable to VDB which has pretty decent breba. I also have a Vista, but it is too young for fruit. Can you tell us more about yours? Thanks, Barry

Barry this is my first year with this cultivar. My tree is young also three years old. only allowed one breba to remain and will probably only allow 6-10 main fruits. I do not have a VDB so I cannot make comparison. I will post updates on main crop as they ripen.

Thanks Northeastnewbie, I thought perhaps the taste was poor due to youth as there have been so many positive comments about this variety.

BLB: Even Jon Verdick the original owner of Vista SAID,THAT vISTA bREBA ARE INFERIOR TO MAIN CROP. I think you are referring at main crop as being very good tasting, and not Breba Violette de Bordeaux makes a plentifull breba in warm climates, but they are also inferior in quality to main crop.

Hi Herman, I was indeed refering to the breba. I know that the breba is inferior to the main crop for VDB and most fig varieties, but I have found VDB breba to be acceptable, at least better than some other brebas. I kinda figured that Vista breba would be acceptable as well, but not necessarily so with a young tree. That is why I wanted to know the age of the tree in question. Then of course Jon is living in Paradise where he can pick and choose from over 600 varieties of figs, hence he may be a bit more discriminating than me!!
