Hi, I am trying to ID this fig and was wondering if it is a BT. It was sold as such, but as I have read, that doesn't always prove correct. If it is a BT, what strain? This plant roots like crazy, I can't kill it! Thanks for any input. Very large leaf, about the size of paper. The leaves on the left is Colsanti BT, the leaves on the right is the "BT"

Hi, On a small tree it is hard to say... But not the standard BT for me . It could be a BT something, but not the simple BT - the leaves should be shorter and rounder in form especially on such a small tree. I bought another BT this year that has almost the same leaves. But checking the batch, it seems to me that cats and dogs were sold in that batch and all labelled BT, where they were not even looking all the same. I found it was funny, and for 7€, I bought one just for fun and see what comes out of the hat . I went later to buy a cat, because for 7€ ... what the hell !, and the sale was over ! Damn it !

Thanks, jdsfrance. Don't you just love all the "BT" being sold out there? I'm hoping it will gives me some figs next year so I can repost with the fruit. But I'm not holding my breath on this one. Good luck with yours and if you find out what it is, would love to know.

...kind of reminds me of a Brunswick, where some of the leaves at the base might have broader finger-like lobes (first picture) and the leaves higher up might have very long, spindly finger-like lobes (as in second picture)... Jim

Thanks needaclone, I have a brunswick and it comes close but not quite. All my brunswick fingers are about the same size. I think this will be a mystery until I get some fruit.

V, For what it's worth, the leaves on the Brunswick cuttings and/or small trees I have are slightly different than the leaves from the mature parent tree -- the parent had well defined long, spindly fingers while the juvenile trees had more variation and remind me of your pictures. So, you might want to keep it in the back of your head... Cheers, Jim

Needaclone, I'm open to all and any suggestion as to what it could be, including Brunswick. I guess at this time only time and a fruit will tell.

I have a young "BT" as well, the leaves don't look like that. Rounder, not as deep lobes. I got cuttings from a friend who had the tree gifted to him... he didn't quite remember the name but when I said brown turkey bells went off. Anyway, I thought the figs were delicious so why not?
