Where are these figs located?

That fig has been caprified by the wasp.  So, that tree is either overseas somewhere or in California.  In Ca, there are hundreds of yellow figs and it's going to be tough to name a fig just by its fruit.  Good luck.

Perhaps the forum should institute a policy whereas a certain minimum of information is required for anyone to ask the questions "what variety is this fig"... A new forum member should at least provide some basic info about themselves or about the fig they are asking about. First, its good basic decorum to intro oneself and provide location info in a basic signature. A name is helpful but not necessary for those folks either shy of sharing their given names or just prefer to use a forum moniker... Second... how about letting the forum know WHERE the fig in question is located. As Dennis indicated, that might provide insight into whether the fig is caprified or otherwise. location info might also lend additional insights into helping to identify the variety if that is at all possible...  Without some basic info in addition to leaf and exterior/interior pulp pictures, even the most experienced and knowledgeable fig subject matter expert may be hard pressed to assist in identification...

This has been a sore point with me for a long time and is why I do not enter too many "Guesses"  I think some people think that we are "All knowing mind readers"  Go back to the last couple of pages and look at the "ID please threads"

Last weekend a guy brought me a Mulberry branch and asked what kind of fig it was, it would not be funny except it had several green mulberries on the branch.

I don't know which is worse, pictures of figs without leaves, leaves without figs, or no statement of where the fig came from.  I think there was one sometime ago that said "this tree is about 10 ft tall and has green figs can you help identify it ?"

I still think that people signing up should have to enter the state they are in, I don't know why people don't.

The answer to my frustration on this subject is simple "Change channels", don't open the thread, move on.

Tony/Danny while I certainly agree that we can create suggestions and improvements to the process there is no need to harp on a brand new member's thread. Asking them the questions would have been much more productive than making someone feel unwelcome. If you do not like these threads you are free to take Danny's suggestion and just listen to the advice of a wise man:

I should have opened a new topic / thread and stated my opinion on prerequisites to UNK fig identification rather than posting it as a comment under the request for help posted by @net451 . Last thing we want is to make new members feel unwelcome or uncomfortable asking for assistance... Thank you so much for putting me in my proper place and teaching me proper forum etiquette...

You didn't disturb us at all. We're here to help. It's just sometimes you can't tell if you are reading instead of speaking if someone is just stating an opinion. Tsparozi actually said the figs were beautiful before his other post so it isn't anything you did wrong. He's generally a really helpful guy.

Seriously Richie? I take exception to your comment that that is always what I do.... turn things into a yelling match.... Only once in the time that I have been here on this forum have I tee'd off on anyone and that was Cajun Dan on the BB10 debacle. Frankly I am somewhat surprised and disappointed that you or anyone else feel that that my contribution to this forum has been solely taking conversations and turning them into yelling matches. If that is the general consensus then I can easily remove myself from active participation in the forum...

I take that back, just found out Calimyrna has pinkish interior.

I live next to calimyrna fields. They are yellow with a golden interior when ripe. They are delicious

Once I bought a fig from spain I plant this fig in my garden then I forget the name 😉. It is very similar to this fig
