Can this rooted cutting be saved?

Nice CDD Gris cutting was doing well in gallon pot outside in morning sun for over a month. Last few days of extreme heat and sun looks like it may have killed it? Other recently rooted varieties in same area not impacted. Should I remove shriveled leaves, fertilize or place in full shade? Any suggestions are appreciated. Hate to lose a nice cutting. Thanks!!

No fert, full shade. You can pop it out to check the roots. What color are they?

Put it in shade. it may or may not throw a new shoot or leaves. I've had the same thing happen. sometimes they recover.

if you have access to seaweed concentrate, id give that a shot. It drastically reduces plant shock.

Thanks it is now in the shade. Think I should remove all or some of the dried leaves?

I would just let them fall on their own.

The soil looks fairly wet.  You know not to over water, right?

In my experience, when the leaves hang on and the tree is wilted/dead, it's dead from overwatering. Figs cannot tolerate wet soil for more than a couple days at a time when they are that age.

Now thinking maybe it was not the sun and heat. Perhaps in my effort to keep trees alive in a few days of very hot weather I mistakenly watered too heavily and rotted the delicate roots. I guess there is a good lesson here but wish I learned that lesson on a more common variety and not a CCD Gris I bought from Herman in NJ. Ugh
