The claim is that it is not Ice Crystal. I'd be interested to know more about it too.

May be a scam. Wanting usa buyer to bid and just say it got confiscated. And never sent anything

Interesting point Richie, how come that fruit is not on the tree?

Very cool looking. Very ornamental, but also edible..
I only got 1-2 ornamental seedlings. One with very red stems and another with thick silvery blue green leaves.

It says it was selected out of thousands of seedlings, that sounds about what the chances would be of a wild fig being common.

I hear you, but would like to see the fruit on the tree.

looks like some sort of afghan fig     http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/1890205/iranian-mountain-figs

Im temper by the cool pictures and cheap price but just going to watch his three auctions. He has never sold anything before but buys alot.

I saw this too...was mulling over a bid.

It seems great minds think alike!

But seriously, what are the chances of a seedling being common?

Thank You for the link Dave.

I was wondering if anyone got any fruit from his/her Ficus Afghanistanica which could have leaves close to this one also. My plant died a while ago.

Very cool leaves, but a very small fruit.

Definitely not an Ice Crystal though

great minds think alike!.....or fools  :)

looks a bit off to me. There's a ripe fruit in hand but none on the tree. A tree that big would definitely produce more than 1 ripe fruit.

Hello @ all.
I am the seller of the cuttings. I am collecting different types of wild figs.
This tree is 3 years old. This was the first and only fruit and I never thought that this would be edible. I even do not know if this is a late breba or a maincrop fig.
I found the fruit after cutting one big branch on 15.09.2016.
The taste is ok, but nothing special.
But this point should be secondary for every fig fan, the leaves are the special on this variety.

And @ Binbin :
You got fig cuttings from me last year, are these ok?

kind regards

Dennis what country are you in?

This makes it clear. Thank you for posting.

If anyone in the US has it I'd be interested too.

I don't think that. I sold only a few cuttings last year, most to malaysia.
My friend selected this variety out of thousands of afghanistanica seedlings.
I am not sure but I am meaning that Bass has a dark one with leaves like this but I don't know if self pollinating....

I have forgotten to say :
It has no seeds but edible flesh. It must be a male fig

All common figs were at one time a new seedling. The chances are way up there though.  Out of the countless billions of fig seeds since figs were on the earth and we only have very few common figs in comparison.

Some fairly recent discoveries come to mind. Valley Black and Emalyn's Purple.

@Charlie, how do they know that a newly discovered tree came from seedling? Is there a test for this? I recently got an Emalyn's Purple from a CA nursery.

No seeds because no caprification in Germany.

By the way... Could you post here a picture of the fruit hanging on the tree (not plucked)?

All trees were once a seedling.  I suppose there may be a mutated limb that was cut off and propagated as a cutting to start a new variety.
