I have a price list for a California wholesale (retail trade only) nursery.  I am guessing the pricing will be close for other wholesale California nurseries but I can't confirm that.  The wholesale prices for fig trees at this one nursery range from $9 for a 5/16" caliper tree to $14 for an 5/8" caliper tree.  The minimum purchase is 10 of each variety and size to get that price.  If you purchase 50 or more, the price drops to $8 and $13. They only have 15 different common varieties that you would find at a Lowes or a Home Depot.  They also sell figs in small .5 gallon pots for $15 a tree if you buy 4 at a time or as low as $10 a tree if you purchase 50 or more.  I am guessing the real cost to produce the bare root tree must be in the $3 to $7 range in California depending on the caliper.  The potted ones must be in the $4 to $8 range.  In our local Home Depot, #5 trade pots of various fruit trees are retailing for $35 this year.  I found a few #5 potted fig trees last year for $25 at Lowes.
