I just received few cuttings, with the season being little shorter in zone 7a,
Is it too late to start rooting them now? Also if I start now I'll be away for 10 days beginning of August will that affect them at all??

If you're leaving for ten days, keep in the shade to prevent from getting dry, by wrapping the pot with clear plastic bag for green house effect, but do not overwater.

In Zone7, you can safely root until end of July. After that you're getting late and may get into problems like the trees not making it out of dormancy come next Spring.
For the time that you are away, you can put a plate under the pots or a bigger container like kidy pools to keep some water for them to use.
