This year's Desert King figs have been more flavorful and larger than I can remember. Or perhaps it is because I netted the trees for the first time so I can let the figs go completely ripe.

I had to use two 30X30 feet nets to cover the entire tree. There are probably 500 figs on this tree now.

The first fig I picked was really large. Well over 100g

I dont recall them being this big in previous years. Perhaps our heavy rains in spring and very dry summer has helped.

Most arent this big. They are only around 80-90g on average. 

Some have honey dripping out of their eyes.

The flavor is honey syrup mixed with vanilla custard. The skin is the tastiest part of this fig. It tastes like it was boiled in syrup.


I also picked an even larger fig: a Nordland. This one was an absolute monster!
