In ground, they take a longer time from cutting to fruiting. In pot is faster to fruit.

I would agree, but in ground has more potential for a larger crop. Still figs are awesome because I can grow them in such a cold area in containers. Not many fruits, maybe brambles, can produce a large crop the 2nd year. My 2nd year and I have about 300 figs, just a stunning plant! That is off a lot of plants, but three 2nd leafs have around 40 figs each. Not bad!
I would not say fruit better, just faster in pots.

Well My 2 Cents is this:
If you live in an ideal climate to grow figs,then grow in ground.
If you live in a difficult ,rainy cool cold climate then you can still grow fig tree ,and get ripe fruits ,but will be much easier to grow that plant in pot and take it in for Winter.

Note:Many fruit trees do not fruit outside there ideal climate,as for example;
No Apple, pear, or European or bunch grapes can be grown in Florida.
No Oranges ,bananas or mango will grow in Michigan!
However Fig tree will grow and ripe in Michigan ,and in Florida,if one really do his homework.

Po, I agree with you,fig produce FASTER in pots than in ground, the smaller the pot the faster they produce. You didn't say anything about the taste, that's a different story?
