I have a Vdb that I have had for 3 months. I do have some Brea fig on it. I just noticed others as a main crop starting to form. Do I leave them on? Will my Brea crop ripen? ( I am in z7a). Should I leave the other figs on or all should come off due to the age of the tree. I did get this from a nursey.

Dont pull anything off. Unless you don't like figs and just bought the tree for the pretty leaves :). Make sure you have a fertilizer higher in PK for the ripening process.
I am using fish fertilizer every week at half strenght. With it being so young should I worry about the tree that it does not have a good root system. Also when do these figs ripen? They have not done much for quite awhile
What zone r u in? If lower than 7 may not ripen, if so let energy go into trees growth!
You wouldn't have all that growth without a good root system so your roots are fine for that size pot. VDB is pretty vigorous. My VDB hasnt ripened yet. Last year it was very late ripening but your breba should be ripening now and main crop probably end of Aug and into Sept. I think my main crop didn't ripen until Sept last year.
I would leave the breba on there , but your main crop is probably not going to ripen ,it takes anywhere from 90 to a 120 days of when they first push out. Your tree looks very nice
Its up to you of course. The tree looks big enough to produce figs to me. The only time I would thin off fruit is on a 1st year cutting. Some people believe that plants also need to learn how to grow and how to produce fruit. Many old timers I know don't prune fruit trees until they start producing fruit because they down't want to interfere with this cycle. They claim if they prune before the tree bears fruit it can delay fruit production for years. Not sure your zone but fig ripening has 3 stages;- 30 days to develop embryo- 60 days at stagnant stage (fig seems to just sit there before swelling and ripening)- 80-120 total days to ripenYour brebas should ripen unless the fig tree subjected to stress and then they may shrivel and drop off. The main crop depends when you saw the figlets compared to when your 1st freeze date.VdB is one of the early ripening figs (80 days).enjoy
