Ebay scam Dausername1

Anyone know the ebay seller fruitnut432?  Are they reputable?

Why do they graft the figs?

greened,
The issue is more about ID not viability.

Can't speak to the seller personally however in their item descriptions they indicate their fig forum handles. So now you can search their postings here and get a sense of who'd you be dealing with. You can initiate some dialogue with them. One thing I do know that good growers love talking about figs....

As to grafting... It's a good method of propagation used by many growers. If you go to your local garden center, it's likely that almost every single fruit tree available was grafted on to some sort of root stock. In the case of figs it's handy for harder to root varieties. On a larger scale it's much more efficient than layering.

Fruitnut has been around for a long time, he has been giving advice and helping fellow orchard growers for what seems like forever. As far as grafting, if you are good at grafting it is way more efficient than rooting cuttings. As far as an eBay seller I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to purchase from him. If you want to chat with him join Scott smiths fruit forum. ( growingfruit.org) he is fruitnut on there also.

I probably should have mentioned I'm not a regular on here and I'm not as serious of a grower as a lot of these guys, so still do your research and maybe chat with Steve aka fruitnut and you decide.

I purchased from fruitnut432 (Steve W) on eBay. Grafted Genoese Nero on RdB. Everything about the tree looked right last year and does this year also. Very healthy specimen.

Grafting is as viable a means of fig propagation as rooting cuttings is. Takes a bit more skill in my opinion. Hope to try it one day when I have more established trees and more confidence.

I never thought I could get over a hundred cuttings to take...so maybe I could be successful at grafting. Something to look forward to learning.

I felt ripped off. I am a military reservist with a lot of connections in law enforcement, and I do a lot of intelligence collection. Therefore, I became a member here when I felt James ripped me off, and wanted to assist other members in getting their money back and stop James.

Afterwards, I started searching other places to buy figs. This forum made me interested in different varieties. Therefore, I turned to ebay. When I received the cuttings from dausername1, I became suspicious. I spoke with another member here through private chat and warned me about dausername1. I did some research on the internet and from this forum.

I disputed my transaction with ebay. I explained to ebay about the multiple complaints across the internet. I also explained the use had multiple accounts. I recommended ebay cross reference certain "information" (I don't want to disclose so other people don't hide one of the main points I used to catch dausename1). Ebay told me they see the user had 1w accounts linked to that one piece of "information". I also used Google maps to look at the shipped from address that didn't look legitimate. Ebay said ship the cuttings back. The shipping label had another address with a different name then the shipped from address. I did some research on that address, and found a name and number linked to that address. I called the phone number and asked the caller some fig questions. She responded "I'm sorry, I do t do business over the phone." From that point, I immediately knew it was her. She started making snide comments that we're in line with the obnoxious emails she sent me.

In regards to the FBI, they have a division for cyber and internet related crimes. I contacted them through https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx and I suspect their doing their own research.

I now have the fig bug. I want the "hard to find" varieties, but I'll be damned if I'm going to be taken advantage of. If someone is selling a fake fig tree, I'm going to call bullshit, and make sure i document and do everything I can to protect myself.

Thanks to this forum, I am now doing business with reputable sellers.

I hope this explains it. I prefer not to go into too much detail, as I 1, don't want to expose the loop holes and have other people exploit them, 2, for the seller to hide themselves further and interfere with a potential investigation.

Nunuorig thank you for everything you're doing. I was also one of the victims of buying a product from Korina. The first time was Oct. 6, 2014. I bought a couple of cuttings of Black Madeira to compare with my Figo Preto. It turned that I bought a Yellow Fig which is not even close to the Black Madeira. The address she had at that time was from Arizona. Then in Feb 22, 2017 I bought some I258 Fig Cuttings from Korina but from New York so I didn't think it was the same lady. But it turned out that it was the same Korina using a different address. I bought 5 cuttings on that date and 4 dies already and the one that is alive is rooting to something not even close to I258 leaves.

Now for sure I know I was scammed 2x by the same girl. Thank for doing all those things to get her kicked out of EBay. Also, thank you for buying my Figor Preto cuttings and I promise they are really Figo Preto. They came straight from Portugal, my best friends mother brought them for me in 2013.

It's my pleasure Jerval, you guys have made the fig community awesome, and as a newcomer, I know what it's like being scammed. I hope my actions contribute to the community at least half of what you guys do.

That being said, I look forward to receiving your figo preto I just bought off you from Ebay!

Best.

Hello Jerval,

I've been looking for a Figo Preto.  May I have your eBay name so I could give yours a try?

Thanks,

noss

Michael, I'm sorry I just realized your post was directed at me. I thought it was about ID and vigor. My Wuhan have the serrated leaf edges which I believe indicate the correct fig.

I commented for three reasons originally.

1) someone previously posted they were looking for a "Wuhan".

2) to see if anyone would respond

3)When any vendor provides a good product for the money I pay I feel they should get recognition and other folks should hear about them. The converse is also true.

Happy fig growing...

Hey Noss,
I'm sorry I literally just sold my last Figo Preto cutting last night. My Figo Preto tree is very vigorous and has many branches growing at the moment. I will probably have more cuttings after I collect the Figs for this Fig season. When the tree is dormant. My EBay name is "jerval" so you can follow my products, I will certainly have more Figo Preto soon.

Hi Jerval,

After I posted my question to you, I went to eBay and I was the person who bought your last set of cuttings, so everything is evidently fine, here.  It's paid for, as well.  ;)  At least eBay thinks I'm the one who bought it.  I saw your name and figured out it must be you because the name is distinctive enough that I didn't think there would be two people with the same name.

Now, I'm hoping I didn't get it wrong in thinking this fig is the one that is like the Black Madeira, only is said to be stronger?  Didn't have time to ask that question, but it was late and I was tired, so I bought the cuttings.  If I'm mistaken, that's no problem because the figs in the photo sure looked good, so how can I lose?

Thanks,

noss  a.k.a. Vivian

Hi Vivian I'm glad it was you ;-) Who Bought my last Cutting , and yes very good fig is the same as Black Madeira :-)

And violetta

Hi again Jerval,

That was a fast reply.  :D

I'm glad that the Figo Preto is the one I thought it was.

How hard are they to root?  Any special things I need to know?  If so, I'd appreciate it if you would give me tips on rooting this fig.

Question:  I notice you have Nero 600m and Nero in your list of figs you grow.  What is the difference between the two with names so close?

Thank you,

noss

Devlsgro,

I think you mean Violeta

Violetta is a different fig variety, apparently similar to Brown Turkey.

In this message - http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/show_single_post?pid=1283620787&postcount=30&forum=0 - Francisco explains that it's a different variety.

This is the complete thread were Francisco explains the story of how Violeta went from Portugal to Madeira and then to the USA - http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/violeta-aka-figo-preto-aka-black-madeira-6456224?highlight=violeta&pid=1285509974

Jerval,

You say your Figo Preto comes straight from Portugal. Do you mean Portugal Islands (Madeira?) or the continent?

What do you guys know about the ebay seller willscfigs?  Is willscfigs reputable?  100% feedback.  dausername1 claims she is buying from willscfigs, but she shows a shady receipt.  It looks like a makeshift receipt.

The Pennsylvania mafia has listings still on EBay. They didn't do anything to them. Go look they are all scams. There must be 20 various listings.

Please note the usernames so when ebay investigates, they see the different people are complaining about the same user.

He runs ..the other fig site, yes hes is legit!! Im new to growing figs as well my advise is stick with fourm members when it comes to getting cuttings

@Dave   Hilarious! We should buy out his complete stock and corner the market on the Ponte Tresa....

Folks,

I spoke with eBay today, and I think I've had it with them.  I was transferred to 3 different departments this time, and no one had the 2 different reports I filed last week, so I filed a third one.  After filing the third report, they transferred me to a new department to file the report again.

I spoke with first level customer support who gave me a hard time to speak to a supervisor who's supervisor sounded like I was taking him away from something more fun.  Now I have to wait 24-72 hours for a call back from a senior supervisor???

Folks, I would like to write a letter to eBay Corporate office, PayPal Corporate Office, consumer affairs, and the Better Business Bureau putting them on notice.

I would like to speak or have a PRIVATE email conversation from anyone who has purchased ANY plant products, (fig cuttings, fig tree's, seeds, mushrooms, etc) from these users:

  • dausername1
  • 77peony
  • korina77-2008
  • robrod815

or any other username that may come from "Moscow, PA", "Brooklyn, NY" or anything that has similar pictures or "feel" of commonality.

What I will be asking you to PRIVATELY email me is:
  1. your buyer username used for the sale
  2. the seller's username
  3. date of the sale
  4. receipt of the sale (you can black out your address, phone number, and bank account or credit card info)
  5. short description of what happened with seller (i.e. I bought the cutting, waited 2 years to fruit, and found the wrong fruit, or cuttings never grew, tried to refund and was successful.  refund rejected because...)
  6. short description of what eBay did
  7. Did you escalate to eBay to file a complaint.
  8. Were you able to leave negative feedback? If not, why?

Guys, number 7 and 8 is HUGE.  If many people filed a complaint with eBay, are not able to provide negative feedback due to eBay, and eBay continues to allow this seller, this could represent negligence.

It doesn't matter if you received your money back or not.

Please privately message me.  I will provide my phone number, email, skype, or any other way you would like to communicate.

I will personally take action on this and do everything I legally can to stop this scammer, or family of scammers.

Thanks for the correction Jsacadura I did indeed mean Violeta.
Nunuorig, willsc is a good guy with a great collection, a very large in ground collection.
