Encanto Farms Nursery

I finally have the new Availability List posted. Most plants will be ready for shipping in the fall. Most are to tender for the summer heat. We are reserving plants for shipment then.

woo hoo!

Jon,

Is the Mediterranean same as the Light Med. or the Royal Med.?

Yay.. I'm exited. Ok.. now what to get???

Jon, may we pick them up instead of waiting until the fall? I'll be in SD mid August and would love to stop by. Thanks,

Jon, You got me so excited I lost my mind! Please forgive the crazed e-mails. I'm not even sure I did it right but I'm still learning the protocol. Last time I got something from you was months ago and I have trouble remembering what happened this morning.

Vince, you can stop at the LSU field day on the way over. Yes pick up is fine.
Rafed, no, this is from OC.

How many of us want one of each!   Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I guess not. I couldn't either

Works for me.

It works for me. I guess Jon limit the view only for us with limited number of figs. ;-)

Works for me too!

Ditto via Firefox.

Wow.....what a list!    A chance to replace some of this years cutting failures before fall sets in....... :-(

What is the Viollette SM? I did not see it in the descriptions.

Thanks Jon, see ya in August.

Jed,

Violette SM,
The SM are the initials of the source, Name and last name. Jon may have the same cultivar from several sources so he documents them accordingly.

Hope this helps.

Jed,

Violette originated at Paradise Nursery: aka Violette de Bordeaux.

Sorry Jed for misleading you.

Sounded good. LOL

Thanks for clarifying Pitangadiego.

I only want easy and prolific fig trees I can grow in pots.

Is Brown Turkey really a staple fig tree like Black Mission?

Is this the Brown Turkey:

Maryland Berry / Br Turkey MD

I compared the list to the descriptions and came up with is list as the easiest to grow:

Atreano

Maryland Berry

Old Brooklyn Italian

Osborne's Prolific

Vista Black Mission

Do those seem easy for a beginner?

Come to think of it.
Paradise Nursery + SM = the initials of the owner.

Jon threw a curveball. Nice try Jon.

Jed,
I would start with the Vista BM. Since this fig is so common in Cali. I just don't know how far north it thrives.
Others will weigh in or just start another thread with the subject title. There are a few members in your area that will be happy to guide you in the right direction.

Good luck

Jed,

Brown Turkey is about the only fig I do not eat.

Brown Turkey MD was a cutting I received that was supposed to be a Brown Turkey. It clearly is NOT. The "MD" distinguished it from other Brown Turkey variants. When it was clear that it was something else, and that it was quite good, it needed a new name, hence the name Maryland Berry.
