wish list:  nothing. i can't grow cuttings  . right now, i have  6 trees showing no signs of fmv. i'd like to keep it that way'

i was told that if i couldn't deal with fmv, i should grow peaches, so i got a peach tree to live with my clean figs.

I thought that the EBT fruit was more 'longish' ...

Frank, yes this is main crop.

George this is from two weeks ago same tree

I'm assuming its weather related for shape and color difference.

They look so good and tasty. How are the taste and sweetness of your English Brown Turkey? Thanks for sharing.

Best,

Hi Nelson:

Nice photos. Is this the same fig from your past post or is this one a different variety of EBT?

George,
I think the breba are significantly longer/narrower than these.  At least, the breba on my tree (which Herman id'd as an EBT) are significantly narrower in shape.  On this variety, I like the taste of the breba better than the mains, though it takes a late warm autumn for me to get the main crop to ripen around here.  (So maybe the mains would taste better if I had a more suitable climate).  The breba are delicious though.

Nelson, are the breba from your EBT tree long and pretty narrow, with a longish neck?

Mike   central NY state, zone 5a

p.s.  I think the taste of English Brown Turkey is so different from the other figs with the words "Brown Turkey" in their name... it's almost a shame that this variety has those words.  It seems to me that it's a very different fig, compared with those others.  Its reputation suffers by (unfair or at least misleading) association with those other Brown Turkeys!
