Watching my last Black Madeira go from this:

I have been watching that Black Madeira since she was a baby...
Making sure she got enough sun.
Making sure not to over-water her.
Keeping her happy.
Heck, I even called her Bella...
And boy was she.
Today, I went up to the roof to say hi, and see if she was ok.
When I stepped onto the roof, I saw a Large Black Blur, swooping away.
I said Whoa! That's a huge bird, It looked like a Raven, or even a Vulture.
I live in Brooklyn, the largest birds we see are pregnant pigeons
Didn't think there were Vultures in Brooklyn, but if there are, that's what I saw flying away.
That's when I saw Bella...
Poor, Sweet, - well not quite sweet, a day or two at the most until she was ready - , Bella.
That black winged creature ate my Bella!
After all my careful care and attention, Bella hung limply and lifeless on her branch a mere shell of the Dark Beauty she once was.
Now your going to call me paranoid, or silly, but If it was a Raven or
Brooklyn Vulture, aren't they the " Calling Cards " of a certain how do I say it... broom riding person?
What, just what if, even in Italy on holiday, she was able to get her " friends" to do her dirty work?
And I KNOW what I saw, it even mocked me by leaving me a parting " gift " next to Bella.
I know bird " gifts " that that was no small run of the mill bird " gift "
It was huge, like Large Raven huge , Large Vulture huge.
Poor, Poor Bella...
