This is an update related to the thread "Very dark fig flesh variety name- San Pietro?", regarding a great unlabeled fig I am growing.
I couldn't take pictures last year, but I have them now:
The tree, lanky growing in only one half day direct sun, shaded all afternoon by tall pine trees:

The very ripe fruit flesh (looks darker red in natural light, flash makes it look a bit lighter), with slightly less ripe whole fruit, and leaves showing variability- from deeply lobed in 3's or 5's, to nearly entire and unlobed.

A close up of less ripe flesh, not as dark as it gets when it is fully ripe and hanging/drooping.

The flavor is very rich dense and berry like. My original description of the flesh being purple was from very ripe fruit, nearly starting to dry on the tree.
Another odd characteristic: This tree set an incredible breba crop, (perhaps 6 figs on every branch tip), then about one half dropped off early, and the other half hung on and remained hollow dry and leathery- completely inedible, and fell off full size. This has happened in other years too.
This second, or main crop, is just peaking now.
Also I sent out quite a few cuttings mid-March 2008, any fruit yet? I know it's early! Maybe next year.
Any comments?
Thanks all
