Hi, Fig Friends!

We are preparing to sell our farm, once home of Paradise Nursery, in Virginia Beach, and as part of that, I am taking cuttings from some of our on-site mother trees for dispersal to other fig lovers. This is partly to make sure that one more generation passes on from these trees  - and to try to create some more good from the nursery by generating funds to help Jon get the Fig Foundation to reality. The cuttings are being listed on eBay and they specify that part of the funds are going to the Fig Foundation so look for that note.

I'll also be listing some of our fig and nursery library for the same purpose.  One of the brand-new eBay listings is for a like-new copy (preserved by me, bought years ago from Ray Givan) from 1977 of The Fig (published by the Jurupa Mountain Cultural Center). Look for the Foundation supporting listings under seller ID vbgarden.

And, hey, if anyone is in the market for a great little 5-acre "farm" complete with 50' high tunnel greenhouse, propagation barn (and all the equipment), fully wired and plumbed for 3 acres under irrigation, including set-up for six 100-foot high tunnels (sorry, now sold), darling 4-bedroom house with pool only 30 minutes from the beach.... well - send me a message. Comes complete with the Mother of All Battaglia Green fig trees (introduced to the trade right here) and more figs and fruit plants.

Please forgive the long post -

Sorry you are selling your farm.  It sounds great!  I'll go look at your cuttings on Ebay.  The fig mafia is after me.  They continually try to suck me back in by bribing me with wonderful cuttings.  Are you part of that?  :-)

Hi, Sybil!   Glad to 'see' you again.  I'm sorry you're leaving.  Where will your new home be?  It sounds like the perfect place, I wish I was in a position to buy it.  Is there a link to a sale ad?  I'm part of several homesteading and small farmers organizations and I could put the word out for you.

Greetings, Robert and our many fig friends!
Thanks for the messages and emails - we have missed you.

I will definitely post a link then our farm lists for sale - we're still in the getting-ready stage but very, very soon I hope!

Several folks asked about a comment I made that I'd be putting some of our library up on eBay. There is one item in particular, still part of this fundraising for the Foundation, that y'all might be the most interested in, the original publication of The Fig.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/161643464913?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649  I got several copies years ago from Ray Givan when I visited him in Florida. This is one that was carefully packed away, in new condition. There's not much like it around.  One copy was an important reference for us and settled a lot of debates!  LOL This is not a fancy publication but one of the most informative on figs anywhere. Anyway, here's your chance to grab a copy and help the Fig Foundation at the same time!
