Fig ID please!!

This is the very first tree I purchased, before I found the forums. It is supposed to be a Black Mission. Do they turn purple at the very end? Do they get a honey drop before purple?

Looks like Italian honey or peters honey. Watch out for birds. Let it get nice and ripe before you pick it. The taste will ease some of the pain of wrong variety.

Thanks it's in my green house so hopefully birds don't go in. Yeah I sure hope it tastes good. My daughter had snapped the tree in half it didn't produce until this year. Its been 5 years of waiting. It has over 100 figs on it, I don't think they will all ripen!!

I also believe it's Italian honey! a very tasty fig so hopefully it makes up for the error in labeling.

Thanks, it has a small open eye also.

How many figs are dripping honey ? They may ripen a good many at the same time. Post pics of ripe fruit on this post. I want to see them. 😉

There are four dripping I'm not sure how long to wait. They are big figs!! I'll post pics for sure!!

What color is the pulp?
Leaves and fig skin looks similar to Brooklyn white but need to see the inside to have better idea.

I'm going to pull one off tomorrow, I'll post inside pic then. I've been trying to get them really ripe!!

How was the figs flavor profile? Looks very honey filled

The drop on the outside was like pure honey, I think it was a little under ripe really juicy slight melon very little and a hint of honey! The next ones I'm going to let hang until they pull off easy. There was still latex in the stem. I think when fully ripe it will be really good, especially if it gets like that drop on the outside that was like candy!!

Looks like it might be the second crop of a dottato(kadota). The first crop is alot bigger.

The dottato gets a honey drip when it's ready

Peters Honey/Kadota/Honey fig

Thanks for all of the replies ☺
