Mali, welcome to the forum. My daughter-in-law is from Turkey and I have been trying to grow some of the varieties that she enjoyed at home. Unfortunately many require the fig wasp and our climate is too cool here for them to survive.  That is a limiting factor in selecting varieties.  Patlicans and Oraks are common figs and can be grown here for sure. Despite a lack of fig wasps, there are many delicious varieties that do grow in our climate (I am in SC so not too far away) and I am sure you will find forum members generous in helping you get the information and possibly some plants which will do well where you live.  Again, welcome to our country.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
if anyway you could come to Raleigh please do visit me.

I live in Cary.  Just got into figs two years ago.  Currently have black mission, brown turkey, celeste and wild fig.

What fig types are you currently growing?

Tad

Welcome to the forum Mali. Everyone has been very helpful on this forum, good luck with your vision fig farm.

Tad, any additional information that you can share about your wild fig?

GregMartin,

It is a huge fig tree growing in the heart of Cary, NC.  Grows wild in a ditch along a very busy road and is very prolific.  Problem is that it is protected by layers of thorny vines which keep people away but not birds.  The few figs I did pick were black in color and very good.  The figs matured in late August and early September.
