Good reminder that it could be helpful to know how others zones effect their performance with their specific varieties. Updated mine :)

I love this idea! It would be great for networking and as a reference for ripening data.

Post a link and directions.I'll add my location.
I'm not worried about raids, ALL I have are some cuttings that I HOPE I can root! Maybe a raider will come help me!

Bobby - I am not sure that most of us have any idea how to add ourselves to this map.  Or where to find it again unless we bookmark it.

I would love to know where my fig neighbors are located.  Not everyone makes it to regional gatherings. Its an opportunity to get to know fellow enthusiasts, to explore solutions to localized problems, to share cuttings or drop off an extra tree over a cup of coffee... especially if you have young starts  or a larger potted plant you would hesitate to mail.

Please add me if you make a map. Noel in Banning, CA  The only thing of raiding size is Brown Turkey and Black Mission but your welcome to it even 'if you can't get past the dogs'.  Hey maybe I'll name my first unknown fig after that- "Sweet Revenge" or "Mad Dash". Just kidding, ask and you shall receive.dog-chases-man-up-tree.jpg

it was set up private just for us on the forum. i changed the settings to where anyone with the link can edit.
in the past i used the feature where i enter the users email address and it sends them access. Now it should be open for anyone to edit.

Thanks Bobby
Unfortunately I still have no idea how I add myself.  How do I sign in?  Do I need to sign in?  How do I edit it?

Playing around I cannot get my location as blue rather than green(I am not a tree) nor can I label it, the help function is rather generic and frustrating.

TO ADD TO THE MAP DO THIS:
1) Click on the paint drop on the top bar
2) A cross will show so move the mouse to your location & click there
3) When the window pops open & highlights the field in blue, enter your name/F4f ID (the number will go away & your name will show) then click okay
4) Now, find your name/ID on the left side list & click on it, go to the bottom right side of the list & find the paint bucket to choose the color blue for your name.

You are done!

If I missed a step, please excuse or edit this list.

Also, are all the green fig trees just trees people found? I suppose I can add a few.

Ok, I'm stumped.  This worked fine on the old map that supposedly is not being used (worked exactly as described). However, I couldn't get the same top bar with the paint drop to appear on the new map no matter what I tried.  Any idea of what is going on?

Now when I click on the link in Bobby's post I am not there again...
Sucky software product with inadequate instructions
I am done, sorry it was a nice idea

Well, instead of clicking on the link on Bobby's post above I did a websearch for "Fig 4 Fun Members".  Up came the map at this link:

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zBmQNHLG-rjk.kiexdJdUxOc8&hl=en_US

This one has me added, which I had done earlier.  Those wishing to add themselves, try doing it via this link.  I think you have to have a newer version of IE or Google Chrome as a browser (not sure of that)

Bobby's link takes me to a older version that I cannot edit.

I'm on, but as a green dot. The above mentioned color options seem to be unavailable when using a kindle, will have another go at it next time I have access to a proper desk top computer.

Hi Bobby, the map works great but the flaw in it of having it open to everyone to edit makes it easy to really mess it up. There are some out there and I'm not speaking of members, who when they find such a map go around changing everyone's location or info. I really like the map but I think a better solution is to have it private and only have one or two members with access to make the changes. Everyone who wants to be on the map would message those with "the power" and have them add the location to the map. That would also make it easier for those who have problems with the program.

Darn thing is worthless to me. It will not work at all. There is no paint drop at the top etc. I think that the map will be a good feature. I use an apple computer perhaps that is the issue the program does not work with safari. larry

Yay, Joann1536! Your green dot can be changed to a blue dot when you open up the map click on your dot and look on the bottom right corner, fid the tiny paint can icon then click on it to bring up the color option. I hope this helps (I may have missed a step).
