I think there is no thread about members fig cutting propagation of this year.
So I want to start a new thread and give you some lovely pictures of my active fig propagations.
Like I said, if you have active projects you can tell us here :-)

Most of my cuttings I put in peat mos at 21.04.17. Now after three weeks they cuttings have got amazing roots. So I give them a try and I potting them up in my favorite Starbucks cups :)
This year I use a new mixture with perlite, pine barks an the Plagron Grwo Mix. I hope it will be good for the development of the roots.

Finally I put my cups in a Ikea big box an close it with the lid. In house the get only daylight.
I am open the lid every day and let fresh air in for 30 minutes.

Here's mine, (currently in Spain, Zone 10a) just leaving them on the balcony with only sunlight at dawn for about 2-3 hours. works good so far.


That's a Lampo (Lampeira Preta) which I received from a really nice forum member with the same name, thank you btw! (I may have overwatered it a bit... but it was really hot yesterday):

One or two here, same underneath and behind. Coming along slow but sure in coir.  

Love coir. I keep it semi dry. Root slow and steady. Im rooting two craving cravings and they are putting out nice roots. Started them in water then put in roots box

I am soaking my cuttings in water right now, going on 48 hours.  They have been waiting in the crisper since fall.  Not everyone soaks their cuttings but I have noticed if done for the right span, not too long but long enough you get nice little bumps where roots will soon begin.  I plan on posting my steps on the forum in a week or so.

Richie how long do you leave in water?

I have bumps so I'll try perlite and coir now - the two I tried in water just haven't done a thing. They should still be sound enough to pot up.

Hoping to post pics in the next day or 2.  Currently propagating JH Adriatic, Stella, Green Ischia and Gino's Black!  All my cuttings were donated by an extremely generous forum member, which is phenomenal.   I am very excited about this years propagation, I think I have fine tuned a few minor things with my current method.  These will be going in the ground as soon as they have strong enough roots or I may just wait until next grow season depending on what I have going on etc.  

Richie what varieties are you propagating this year?  I know you live close to LSU's fig orchard, if I ever drive down to LSU is it possible to obtain cuttings from any of their orchards?

As of 1 hour ago, i just placed my Pink Picone and MBVS cuttings in my Coir setup. As its getting a bit colder here down under, i dipped them in clonex gel so hopefully they'll root quicker than the first batch. and get some good growth before they go dormant. I'm hoping for a 100% success rate as the first batch but you never know! 

 

     





UPDATE: Look at this. It takes 3-4 Weeks and the cuttings get this beautiful roots.

did you use a heat-mat for your cuttings or just room temperature? Might i say, those  roots look mighty healthy!

I just use room temperatures like 22-24 C°. My underfloor heating is on. It works very good.
They are in the closed ikea boxes. Read my first reply.

I hope that the humidity of 100 % in my Ikea Boxes dont kill my cutting. They looks healthy and make a good rooting development so far.
I open the lid every day for 30 Minutes to get out the humidity in the box an them close it. the soil is very warm. The soil with pine barks and perlite will remain lightly moist.
