Fig trees in Poland.

That would be great. You have a very good varieties. I also will be able to send you some cuttings, I have Perrette and Panache. Purchased at the Czech store.

I will definately be able to send you Bayernfeige Violetta this fall, because we got a big tree inground.
It is very cold hardy over here.
The other varities we have to see if i got much to cut this year.

Your trees are still small, let them grow first before you cut them...

Oh, very good news. This fall? So now. :D The weather is terrible, cold and rainy. Failed summer in my part of the Poland. :(

Yeah, trees are small, next year Perretta will be dug into the ground, so maybe will be grow well.

From what I can see your varieties are highly recommended for our area. (Chicago, Bornholm, RdB) Really solid collection.

It's time to begin new season :)

Michurinska-10

Brave man to be putting figs in ground in central Europe...I see you planted near a stone structure for micro-climate...tell me how you winter protect?

Ah! So nice to see your trees are breaking dormancy. A new season is beginning! My friend who is from Poland, by the way, has a beautiful, huge fig tree. She talks about Poland often...beautiful country. Thanks for sharing photos!

Thanks for nice words about my country. :)
I only bend fig tree to the ground and I cover it by branches of conifers during winter time. We had mild winter for few years. All my grounded fig trees are alive. :)
So far this fig gave me main crop last year.

Covering with conifer branches...love it...I have many sand pine saplings on my property.

I will keep your technique in mind, you never know when we will get a really cold year.

Thank you.

BTW my family were guests of the Polish people since at least 1790 untill around 1900, Region of Galicia, which will let you know my bloodline. :) I wish you much success with your trees.

That is one really hardy tree to get 2 crops in Poland. Obviously, you put a lot if work in to it.

The concensus on the fig forums in the USA is Michurisnska-10 is called Florea in the USA. But there seems to be many strains, as there is the fig wasp in Bulgaria, seedlings were likely common. Any thoughts on that?

I never had a first crop of michurinsk-10. I think that we don't have any wasp in Poland ;) I had small figs in beging april but after few days it stopped developing. I have other kinf of figs but now thoes figs have 2 yr in ground. So maybe 3rd year thoes figs will give me some second crop.

Maybe this uknown fig will be fine in october. I have to wait.

Thanks for posting photos of Michurisnska-10! They look great.
