Figs from Israel

Does anyone have any figs from Israel. Had a guy here that has done some digging in the city of David area and said the figs there are the best he has ever tasted. Sounds like a good one to get a hold of.

There is not just one to get hold of but quite a few good ones. Khurtmani fig is one of the well known figs from Palestine/Israel area..

I think that is the one he referred to!

Right now I'm in the process of rooting 2 Sbayi fig cuttings, one of the best fig in Palestine and Israel.
My family is orriginally from Palestine, we have 2 excellent fig trees, but I don't know the names... They have been in my family for a while

Mfehmi: Do u sell any cuttings?

What is the cold hardiness of the Khurtmani?

One I get cuttings from Israel. The tree is in the forest.

When grow in tropical. that is the best one for me.

So I name it White Israel

Is the last photo your tree that you grew from the mother tree in the forest?

Is the first photo the mother tree?

No
The established fig trees belongs to my father. This year I bought a house, took some cuttings and they are growing well, but too young too sell cuttings. Next year maybe

I think Dennis (snaglpus) has Khurtmani, I remember him mentioning the taste recently in one of the topics. Not sure though, maybe send him a message and ask.

For those in colder zones the khurtmani is not recommended since it ripens abit late september. I mean the real Khurtmani and not red Khurtmani. The red Khurtmani is probably a roxo de valinhos(brazil).

Sbayi would be more suitable as it ripens its main crop in june-august here.

Regarding cold hardiness i know most of these survive mild frost as in Jerusalem.

Eli, do you mean "red israel" when you say "red khurtmani". there was an inadvertent labeling of red israel as synonymous to khurtmani/khortmani.
