Ercan many fruits weigh Giant Bursa? The human hand does not allow objectively evaluate the size. Many gardeners use to picture the hands of children.

Yes you are right Vlad.I think I must get a weighter to weight objectively.

Can you identify this variety of fig from USA ?

Is there anyone to help me?

Ercan, it looks like my Barada from ToJ, but it's a fig from the historic village of Sidnaya in a mountainous region around Damascus. Mine are first year trees and haven't fruited yet but your fruit look like the pictures in my notes.
Bass says "I really like this fig. It's one of the sweetest honey type figs, unlike other honey figs I've had that tend to be watery, this one has a rich flavor."
It's one of my most vigorous growers with one cutting sending up side sprouts that I was able to air layer. Here is the air layer tree. Do you think it's the same?

Any idea how much cold this variety can take?

Mara, thank you for your comment.I also contact with Bass and he say it is maybe Kadota fig.Someone advertise this fig as Calimyra fig in Facebook post and I told him this is not Calimyra fig because it is the same with our variety Sarilop or Erbeyli injir and start to identify this real name .But I think yours leaves shape is different then this .I really don't have any idea about USA fig varieties.

GregMartin,
It is grown in hot climate in eastern part of Turkey but I grow it in our climate here that is -5 C in winter and it looks OK.

Hi Ercan, was offered these varieties from a seller in turkey on facebook, says all are self pollinator, how true? Varieties are Bardacik, Green eggplant, white eggplant, Small nut, brown autumn, green autumn, purple autumn, brown summer, green summer, sultana, small purple, black orak, white orak, sarizeybek, & goklop. Thanks in advance.

Nope only eggplant, black orak ,white orak are self pollinator in your listing that you mentioned above.the others are symnra and needs wasp. There is really wrong information about Turkish figs.

I also have Facebook account and share some posting about Turkish figs you can follow with this link

Hi ercan,i have taken seeds from a yellow fig,sow them and five seeds grown to little trees. The fig tree i took the fig from was growing in dalyan turkey. My question is what variety fig could that be?It was very commen overthere,

If it is from Dalyan(touristic place) in Turkey then probably it is symnra fig .Where are you located and do you have wasp in your area ?

Hi ercan thanks for your quick replay. We do have wasps in the netherlands but i dont know if we got the right ones.I have two other fig trees in the garden one from greece and one from spain. The greek one gives purple long figs. The one from spain gives green figs.I have some names from yellow turkish figs, but i dont know wich one i have. The names i got are Aydin sari lob,Beyaz orak and Sari keten koynegi.

Yes ruud ,the tree names you mentioned are all yellow one.It is interesting to get sari keten interesting it is not grown widely.I have this in my stock.Besides what's your question ? You got some seeds of figs in Turkey and grow it in Netherlands so you didn't recognize the variety of fruits that you collect ? Or you don't know which variety of seeds you planted? I think growing fig from seeds sounds interesting because you never see the original variety from these plants that is grown from seeds .it is genetically changed after polinated .

So it is like every fruittree you grow from seed, the result should be a surprise.

Rudd,

You don't have fig wasp in Netherlands , it can't survive in northern climate. Hope this helps. You can try to introduce wasp as an experiment with the help of a greenhouse . I'm sure Ercan will be able to guide you through .
Cheers

I think you must choose the common varities to grow in Netherlands Ruud.. And be sure about wasps.
