The capital of France is a great city for the fig lover : in almost every street, you can find a fig tree! Although Paris is in Northern France where the climate is rather cold, the figs that grow here are not necessarily very cold-hardy since the urban heat island effect prevents from heavy frost.
The varieties planted in the center of Paris are mainly well-known French ones : Pastilière, Blanche d'Argenteuil, Dauphine, etc. In the suburbs where many immigrants settled in the past century, you can find more uncommon and unnamed varieties brought by them from Algeria, Portugal, Italy...
