Figs potting now

Hello guys, My figs cutting are currently in a open box inside. Now I think the mixture which I have mixed get very quick dry. So I want to potting them in a potting galon. The root gets brown and woodsy. Can I pott them now or is it a problem? I've up-potted with less roots than that with no problems. Some let the cup get really loaded with roots, but then you have your issue of drying up quickly. Put them in a blue plastic tub you get at Walmart with lid. Water them well. Leave a little water in tub like i cup. Not enough to get under your cups. Put lid on and get you a propagation mat. Put propagation heating mat under tub. Keep lid on and watch them grow a few days with this heat and humidity will make a huge difference. For more then 3 days in tub add a light. Take lid off cut hole to accommodate a light. Nothing fancy. It can be a garge drop light. After cutting hole for light. Set lid aside cover tub with plastic then put lid back on. nake sure light is not to hot so it DOESN'T melt plastic or make it to hot in box. Florescent lights are best. Could I potting them now in a mixture in gallons? There is not to much place in the smal cups. I think the root cant grow any ore in that.

You can pot them up now in a 1-gallon pot. In up-potting from the rooting glass in such cases, I first water the plant making sure the soil near the glass surface are wet. This helps insure to some degree that roots are not hard stuck to the glass. I usually press the glass with fingers or between fingers to further separate the soil and roots from the glass surface. This make it easy to slide out the plant by turning the glass up-side down to release the plant for re-potting. Repot and water well and let it drain. Take your time before you count them out dead. Figs are resilient and like to hang onto life. Try to nurture the dead looking ones for a couple of weeks to see if any hangs onto life. Most often they do. It is fungus gnat bitten one or the waterlogged onse with rotten roots that have hard time surviving __________________ Ottawan-Z5a, Canada

Before up potting into one gallon containers, your potting mix was bone dry, now it's way too wet. You need to find a balance in between. Too wet of a mix will encourages root rot (what I see from your updated photos). Navid.
