Most local Smyrna and San Pedro crops have been showing conspicuous signs of being receptive for pollination, this an indication that it is time for the wasps to show up and soon get their jobs done.
Had not to wait long.... Nature seldom fails and this morning, they arrive!
The pollen grains seen around the fig eye tell us that by the time the pictures were taken, many wasps had already flown off to the surrounding fruit. These are big size Profichi and in its insides they may easily carry a few hundred insects ... they (the females) usually appear as soon as the morning sun warms up the fig,.. popping out of the fig eye... cleaning excess pollen to get lighter, and easily fly off without delay to avoid several predators ambushed in the neighborhood..
