I spray cuttings before they even have leaves, mainly since they all are in the same spot. I think there is a specific article about the positive effects on just-rooted cuttings in the link above.
Just want to report that Fig bud mites are tough, I sprayed my tree with malathion one week ago, all mites dead and dried shrink to amber color, Useless for their eggs, I find them coming back today.
