Well, so far, mine hasn't arrived.  Bummer!  But at least the mystery of the unlabled tree and cuttings is Solved.  Desert King and Cuttings from RCantor!

I would send the plant after being rooted into the 2 1/2 in pots and can see some roots. When all is ready I will send you a PM and schedule the shipping.

2 of my cuttings have already put out leaves. Really hoping these take! By the way, what are you calling these? I want to label them appropriately.

When talking with other members I call it the Calabria fig. Just to make it easy. But I call it the Chiappetta fig.I name all of my unknowns by the last name of the original owner. If you look up Chiappetta olive oil, you will see it originates from Calabria area

Art, the cuttings arrived today!  They will be in limbo for a while, while they try to root!  Thanks so much!

So now confusion reigns!  Calabria is there, but two unknowns.  So what is the story on those?  Wish you accepted PM's...

Suzi, they all are pretty easy to root. Very quick. That white fig is a tastey fig. I posted pics. of it. The unknown variety post. You might want to hold on to all of those Calabria fig cuttings if they all root. My family wants me to plant multiple of them. They are that good.

This thing really is an easy rooter! Direct sowed them in Miracle Grow seedling/cutting mix blended with an extra bag of perlite. 2 of the 3 I kept have leaves and thick roots. Really hoping this thing tastes good!

Tim,  I potted a few up myself. Have them growing under lights. I actually had roots growing up out of my rooting mixture. You won't be disappointed in the taste. I actually plan on planting a few in ground and keep a few in pots. I like it that much.

All of mine have come out of the shoe box with a nice root system. Put them all in pots tonight. 

Can't wait to taste these guys in two years.

I did a little research on this fig. I have found that it might be the same as "Rick's Calabria," one of my best producers this year. I got it from another member. The source of his tree and your cuttings sound identical - a large inground tree in a Pittsburgh, PA, suburb, originally from Calabria region of Italy. Fruit description and flavor profile are the same. Leaves are a match. Neither mother tree is ever protected in winter yet grows huge. That said, I would be willing to bet the same tree is the source of both the Unknown and Rick's Calabrias. It is an awesome fig.

I have to agree with everyone on what a fast rooter this one is. A very generous forum member shared their cuttings with me. I got three cuttings and at this point they all have roots and 4 inch shoots. I will up pot next week. I look forward to tasting the fruit.

I just found out that my great grandparents cam from Cosenza (San Lorenzo del Vallo) in Calabria in the 1880s.  If anyone has a cutting from this tree that they would like to share I would appreciate it.

Any updates on this tree? I would love to try it. It sounds tasty and is supposed to be easy to root.
