Caught off guard, frost on my fig plants.  The plants are well rooted, what now? Help me.

Put pool noodles around them or pipe insulation and bury the root area with dry mulch. They will be ok. Where you at ?

If you covered them with mulch around the base, even if some branches get damaged they should come back in the spring.
From observation so far, trees in TX are susceptible to some winter damage, but no enough to kill them unless extremely young.
If you feel like extra protection, then use a chicken wire around the tree and cover at least half way up with dry leaves or hay.

Had a very light freeze here in NE Texas.  Temp was down around 31-32f for an hour or so.  The main thing have seen in the past with this scenario is the light frost will pretty much force dormancy which is not a bad thing.  I had an extremely large late crop of figs and of course they will all fall off.  Too bad, the forecast for the rest of the month is all 60's-70's and they would probably have made it if it had not been for the light frost.

I had moved all my young and tender trees into the greenhouse so they are all fine.
