I have a question I got some cuttings and I've been rooting them in water and one of the cuttings has what I initially thought was leaves sprouting but I looked closer and it appears to be a fig. Now the dilemma I'm facing or thinking about is do I leave the fruit on the cutting which I should note has not sprouted roots yet or leave it? I'm fairly new to propagating figs and I don't know if it would be beneficial to take the fruit off or no harm and just leave it! Can somebody help me?
I personally prefer to see leaves first, even one leaf is enough, then in order to conserve energy in the cutting, carefully remove the fruit using a sharp clean pruner.
Remove the fig and focus on growing your cutting...the fig will siphon energy from your cutting..your main priority is to put that energy into growth.
Thank you for the advise!
