After a long day of picking grapes and taking them to the wine-maker in a nearby town, we swung past the home of a fig grower that I had visited before. For the person's privacy, I won't mention names. I had gotten cuttings from them earlier this year, and this time around they were generous again and let us sample many of the figs - which are now ripe. I can't remember them all, but panachee and zidi stood out as both beautiful and extremely good. Deanna stood out, or should I say 'stood back' as being a total nothing. Sadly after a long day of picking and wine-tasting, many of the others blended together in my mildly marinated mind. But the entire day was great, capped off with visiting a very nice and interesting person, and tasting some really good figs for the first time ever. __________________ WillsC's new fig forum: http://www.Ourfigs.com (and blueberries)

So you have nothing to be jealous of! :) __________________ Zone 6, MO Wish list: Galicia Negra, De La Reina - Pons, Genovese Nero - Rafed's, Sbayi, Souadi, Acciano, Any Rimada, Sodus Sicilian, any Bass, Pons or Axier fig, any great tasting fig.

Gina, that was an excellent day for you and a great opportunity to taste a few varieties. Yes it is worth the wait to get figs growing!
