Harvey's fig harvests in August 2014 - Updates

Yes, I started my tree last year and it's about 5' tall and as wide.  It has lots of figs on it, hope they will all ripen. Hope fruit will ripen earlier next year.  I thought of you when I ate this fig, nice acid balance.

On 8/19 I posted my first fruits of Maroc Noir.  I mentioned the vigor of this tree and today a photo of my tree today when I picked another fruit (sorry, didn't take a photo of the pulp, just ate it up!).  This tree is about 7' tall and 10' wide (4' wide in the other direction) and was started from a cutting in February 2013, 18 months ago.  The vigor of this tree is truly impressive.

Today I also picked my first Sal's EL.  Two of them, actually.  Fruit was hidden under leaves so they were undetected previously and probably two days past prime but still quite good.

I picked another Bourjasotte Grise today and taste was great.  Sorry, fruit is out of focus.  Neil (posturedoc) had mentioned his plant size, etc. so I took a photo with my tree in the background.  My tree was started from a cutting in January 2013 and has grown well, IMO.  By the way, those are my fields of alfalfa in the background.  I will be expanding my orchard into that direction another 48 feet.

I posted photos of Col de Dame Blanc on 8/18 already.  Those were very ripe and drying down and I decided to pick a couple more tonight at two different stages of ripeness.  The smaller and sweeter one is probably 3-4 days past the stage of the larger one.  Both taste very good, though I definitely prefer letting it get fully ripe.  I believe the ones on 8/18 were probably a few days further along and I don't recall those tasting quite as sweet but with a more intense flavor.  I prefer the stage at the 32 gram fig picked tonight.  I'm picking a lot of figs so I can afford to be picky! :)

Another Figo Preto today, had to test out brix with my new refractometer.  Taste was awesome; we've had hot weather in the 90s finally.

Harvey, Maroc Noir is super duper vigorous for me as well, bearing figs already. Your tree must be a monster after 3 years! I haven't heard much else about this variety, how has it been for you as of late?
