Help: Desert King Fig seems to be dying, pls advise

I live in San Diego, CA (Penasquitos).

I planted Desert King Fig tree few months back. It dropped all its leaves during fall and I pruned little bit. But there were no signs of new growth yet. My other fig (Black Jack) already started sprouting. I scratched the lower trunk of DK tree and they seemed to be dry and not greenish. I cut one of the twig (see photo attached). One of the branch showed some green patch. (attached). Is the tree alive, should I need to wait few more months to see new growth?

Any tips, advise or pointers?

It's mostly alive and adjusting to the new soil especially when you see green below the bark. Figs are amazing hardy.

You are good. Patience grasshopper!

Relax. Now take a fig breath! Desert King is hardy and bounces back from abuse.
Here's my take on DK: On 12-14-2015 I posted an entry on F4F
entitled Cutting Back Transplants. I attached an image which was
easy to do back then. I potted ten (10) 5-6 year old plants and cut them
way back. Kept them outdoors all winter. Questioned whether I'd see
leaves on them again, much less figs. Didn't really care much because I was clearing
garden space to grow something else. Come late spring, 9 of the 10 leafed-out!
Come Aug. this year I expect figs on the (2016) old growth.

Thanks Charles, that's very encouraging!
Can u pls send the link u referred to?

Hello everyone! you guys were right! to remain patient!
My DK fig started sprouting, glad that I didn't remove it.

Thanks everyone!

P.S: any tips on watering, good growth/fruiting?

Desert King is a survivalist! Here's what I wrote to a few members
who bought the cuttings from me recently and asked for advice:

My friend Pete prunes his Desert Kings and just sticks the cuttings
(dipped in rootone) in
the ground outside. They grow with
at least a 90% success rate. Now he has plants 1'  to 4' tall growing.

I talked him into selling them.  He said OK. $12.50 was his price.
As we speak, I am negotiating a deal for him with a Chinese doctor in King Co.
who first wanted 50 plants...then 100...now he wants 150 now that
he learned Pete has 200-growing!!!
