Hi, my name is Paul and I live in California.  My father lives in Clearwater, FL and I am encouraging him to grow a fig tree in a pot on his lanai.  It is very humid with a lot of rain.  I'd like to suggest a variety for him that would do well in these conditions.  I was thinking something in the LSU line.  Does anyone who grows near this area have any specific suggestions of varieties they are growing that are productive, tasty, and hold up well in humidity and large amounts of rain?

Smith, Ronde de Bordeaux, Kadota, Hollier, LSU Scott's Black, and Excel. So far, anyway.

All of mine are in pots.

he will have MANY to choose from.  others will chime in on ones that do well in humid conditions w/o splitting.
I can tell you that Sals Corleone is one prone to splitting so may not be the best choice

In a pot with no native soil is the key.  The leaves will spot, but many common varieties will produce. 

In the ground is more iffy.  The half of FL that freezes and the half that doesn't freeze are two different worlds when considering nematode vulnerable plants.  Clearwater is near the borderline most years.
