Help with a Celeste cutting

Hello all. About three weeks ago I took a 12 inch cutting from my inground Celeste. I am attempting to root a cutting for the first time. I read that you can put the cutting in a water bottle and it will start to root in about a month. So I put it in a water bottle filled about one third with lukewarm water and change it every once in a while. I'm not sure that I see any routes left but the actual cutting is alive and well. It put out a leaf bout a week ago on the top which wilted on the edges and fell eventually. Now the second leaf is appearing to follow. I cut a little bit off of the bottom of the cutting just to make sure it doesn't seal up. I also put in a few drops if SUPERTHRIVE every other time I change the water. I noticed some white dots in the stem in water (maybe roots) starting to appear. The cutting is near the kitchen window but not in direct sunlight.

Am I doing this correctly? When should I expect to put it in potting soil?

There are so many ways to root that I'm not sure what to do. Some say you can put the cutting right in soil; some say keep it in the water bottle until it roots. I'd like to be successful with it.

The cutting is doing well despite the small leaf
having curled up that it put out. I figured it was a sign that the cutting was headed south but it's perfectly fine, and in fact ready to push out the leaf under it.

Attached are some pictures. Any advice is appreciated.

Is the water bottle method a good way to root in the future? I like to keep the process simple. 🙂

I would say skip the water and go with slightly damp coir, do a site search. Celeste is a willing rooter. Good luck.

Well the second leaf went dry so I just threw out the cutting. Still no roots. Maybe better luck next time. 🙁
