Good day, I haven't been posting and commenting as in previous years. The one thing that never stops is time. With my fig trees and greenhouses, there is always something to do. Now that the weather is getting cooler, I don't have to baby my figs as much. They are going dormant. However, many of my trees still have figs on. Although some are still ripening, most are not worth eating. A week and a half ago, we had a cold snap. I covered my greenhouse and moved some trees inside. I moved Hmari in and yesterday as I were moving trees around I noticed these figs were getting soft. Well today, I picked these 2. They were very good tasting to my surprise! The good thing about this fig is it has a very tight eye and it does not split in the rain. This is definately one fig to have for those fig collectors! My tree is small but it is going to be one of the best! I got my tree from Bass around 2 years ago. Thank you Bass for making tree available!

Looks so good for a cold ripen fig. Like that it has some gold colored pulp with the red pulp. I may have to puc this one up nice pics

What's up Chris? Smith taste better and is much larger and is a honey fig. But this fig has a super tight eye with a berry taste.

Super, thanks Dennis. All is great, how are you folks? I was on your neck of the woods this weekend. We went to the Rafaldinni vineyard and had a blast. Wanted to stop by but we were running on a very tight schedule .

I live in Thailand, about 90 miles south of Bangkok.  In Bangkok, there is the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market, although the market actually is open every day.  Whenever I go to the Chatuchak market, I always try to go on Wednesdays.  That's the day, the only day, they bring in all the plants.  Among the sellers, there is one stall that specializes in figs.  He has loads of both common and rare figs and sells them at very reasonable prices.  Every time I go, he also has different figs available.  I recently bought a Hmari fig from him for about US $25.  The plant already has 4 figs growing on it and since I brought it home two more are developing.

If you are ever in Bangkok, don't miss the Chatuchak Market on Wednesdays.  Getting there is easy.  You can go by taxi - and taxis in Bangkok are very inexpensive.  You can also go by the MRT subway.  Exit at the Kamphaeng Phet station, take the Chatuchak Market exit, and you'll find yourself in the midst of the plant sellers.  When you exit, turn right.  That's where you'll find all the fruit plants, including the fig seller.
