Good message Olga. Nice cute dogs & good pic's. Sure gives me the message that it is not safe to wonder into your backyard of figs without prior blessings. A pound of flesh is worth more than those yummie figs.

I just look 105 F and very high humidity.. Yes, my dogs will eat all figs with leaves and sticks.. So, I put fences around my figs.. I don't have problems with birds or wild animals, but my dogs will destroy my figs.. Mostly I think they are jelous I spend so much time with my figs..

Olga, that is a great dog picture. I wish my dog would go in the wading pool that "Grama" gave to her, but she won't do it on her own. If i get her to go in the water, I'll post her picture here!

Yes, this is Dogue de Bordeaux- French Mastiffs.. They go to pool from very early age, only in small pool..They love water.. they just want me to poor water on them all day long...I had a boy, he was in pool all the time, from early morning till night..I do have 3 pools for dogs, so they can go to pool any time... This is a great breed of dogs.. But I love all kind dogs..I do have one little dog too..But he don't stay with big one..They looking on him like on snack.. So, I afraid to put them together.. Please, if you have picture to post, do it.. I know this forum about figs, but I hope no one will get angry..

Oh I wish I could have a dog again, but the yard is sooo crowded with pots. I have to stick with my cat, but years ago it was all dogs. My favorite was my Bull Terrier.

figsontheporch,
Earlier today those puppies were brought to me by a breeder to see. Both are 3 months old, most likely I'll get the Black one.
My previous German Shepherd did not like figs and never ate one. From your picture it seems like that poor guy wants some figs to eat :)
Navid.

Those are some fine looking dogs Olga! I am sure you have no problems at all with birds, squirrells, or any other small critters coming into your orchard :-0. They sure have the right idea on beating this heat. You, obviously take good care of them. They look pretty happy in those pics. I did a little work in my yard today but I wasn't interested in staying out there for too long. It's supposed to hit 99/100F again for us over the next couple of days. It's hot man! But the figs seem to like it. What part of the country are you in Olga?

Olga, I did get my little Corgi into the pool, but she isn't interested in clean water, only water that is muddy and stinky. She has a mind of her own. In fairness to the other dog, I included his picture, too. Neither dog eats figs. Yet.

You are lucky... I put fences around my figs..One day I just forget close gate for 5 minetes and when I was back 6 my young figs already was pull out, no roots, no leaves and sticks on ground..Only couple survive, but Stanford I try to root for many month is gone, both of them.. My dogs eat mulberry leaves too and mulberry fruits.. But I do have a huge mulberry tree so I don't mind about this one.. Yours little one.. poor thing, must be don't know what going on, why she is in a pool...:-) Very cute dogs:-)

Hi Olga....gorgeous dogs. That is the breed my Mom grew up with in a little coal town in Pennsylvania. She said if she were ten years younger, she would get one! It is hot and humid here also...I am just a bit north from Bill in the Bluegrass state. 93 degrees and I don't know what the heat index is today, but my dogs won't stay outside for more than 4 minutes!
I am attaching a photo of my dogs...on the right, you see Lucy, my little Pekingese--she is going on 9 years old, and rules the roost. And then we have, Teddy, he is my soldier son's German Shepherd, and we have "custody". Teddy is 3 and enjoys chomping on fig plants--leaves and limbs. Needless to say, I doused a plant with pepper spray and he has not touched one since. He tries to eat the camera if he sees it in my hand...I think he thinks it is hurting me. Sara

Olga, Guess I could have just looked at your profile. I see that you have your location on there. I lived in Naples for 10 years. Yes, it does get very hot down there. The sun is more intense too. I grew all sorts of other stuff but never did try figs while down there. Guess I should have! Sara, We sure are having a hot one here in KY this year. It was 101F when I went by the bank today around 1:PM. Looks like Cecil has got us beat out in TX though. Like Jason says, those Texans have always got to go bigger huh? Show offs!? ;)

Our brand new central air which was just installed in May is not functioning. It got to 88 degrees in the house today, 95 outside. Needless to say I am less that thrilled and the service call has been made.
