Huge Panache figs

First figs from Panache fig tree planted in ground about three months ago. They are really big, much bigger then Panache purchased several days ago at Trader Joe's.

wow, those are very big
is the tree planted inside greenhouse ?

What was the source of your tree? My Dave Wilson tree has much smaller figs that never do seem to get much larger.

All my trees are planted in ground, I have two acres. I purchased some Panache figs at local fig festival in Vista,CA few weeks ago, they were just as small as Trader Joe's Panache. Two bigger figs on the right are my figs, Trader Joe's figs on the left for comparison. 21104538_501286730211321_1875469325_o.jpg

Very impressive.

Those are impressive size, they are exuding fertility!  I am new to this culture, and trying to decide which varieties of figs to plant in my southern Arizona Zone 8B. Panachee is one I am considering, but someone tells me they tend to split, as yours apparently have done.  It rains frequently here from mid-July until late September here, so splitting may be an issue for me. It looks like it has an open eye.

Does Panache tend to split readily?  It is pretty, popular and attractive, and said to be wonderful flavor...what is consensus, does Panachee have tendencies above some other varietals to split?  I realize figs may perform very differently in one Zone than another, and it is reality I have frequent rain during the fruit bearing season unlike some of you.

I am interested in suggestions for figs that may do well here, and also ones you may have tried that did or did not work out in similar growing zones.

I am new to figs, I planted my first figs this spring, I could not help much with advise.
I do not mind splitting, I was probably watering too much 3 times per week for 15 minutes on irrigation timing.

No, we do not need greenhouse to grow figs in Southern California.
