I think I might be at capacity

Well last week I got a call from a forum member that there was a classified ad about two free fig trees. I met the people last Friday and in about 2 hours I had both the trees dug out. The owners had no use for them and already removed the heater and some of the green house so with the weather freazing at night8 the new owners were just going to cut them down I had to make the decision quick. I had to cut a few branches to get it through the door of the green house.

I ended up with what i thought was just two but ended up being 6 individual 6 to 8 foot trees with the trunck sizes of 2 to 5 inches. I got a fair amount of roots out with them. They are going to spend this winter in the garage, and come spring time in the ground they go, and a figloo around them for next winter. So ill be adding these to my already 24 potted trees and 20 cuttings I have rooting. And to think this time 2 years ago I only had 1 chicago hardy lol.

So I have lots of unknown green fig cutting of anyone is interested. I'll post pics when I figure out how.

Congratulations  paolo.
Glad to see that you got them. From what you say and with the trunks that big, you should be able to get a lot of fruit from them next season.
Very happy for you.

Well done, Paolo!  I'm looking forward to seeing pics and following the progress.

Always good to know that you might be potentially saving a fig tree that is unknown. It just might end up up being the next great variety. Who knows, but it is still worth the effort. Congratulations and good luck!

Hi Paolo,
Sorry to play the black craw, but hoping for you that those trees are adapted to your zone.
Why the hell, did they have a figtree in a greenhouse the whole year long ? Did I miss something ?
Did you get information on when the fruit would ripen for them ? Black, green, yellow ?
Since the tree has been dug out, now is a good time to separate each trunk/root-shoot and turn it into a new tree.

My best guess it was in a green house all year because the previous owners being older they didn't want to bury it or take the green house down every year. And by greenhouse it was just a shed made from what ever material were on hand with no insulation. Alot fig trees in my area are in some type greenhouse/shed or sunroom. in the summer they just open the windows doors etc.
