I was excited when I noticed this fig because it was hidden from me...but not from the @#%^(*! mocking birds. Arghh.

The color of the main crop this season appears to be more reddish compared to previous seasons. Has anyone else noticed this with Improved Celeste?

Oh yeah. I said a prayer, a few Hail Marys, and threw some salt over my shoulder; and the "good part" was delicious.

[Edit] A good discussion followed the original posting of these pictures. I did not want to add anymore pictures to that thread. So one thread became two. This is my photo record of an improved Celeste not the Improved Celeste, b.k.a., O'Rourke and I am throwing up a five-fingered salute.

JD, I missed a good one off my tree 2 days ago.  I saw it in the morning, when I got home it was gone!  I'm seeing more catbirds in my neighborhood.  They are very territorial and seem to chase away all my Robins and Mocking birds which were my problem last year.  Mine will be ripening next week.  Yours are darker than mine.  I like the dark color of your figs.  Good job!  More to come.

These did not ripen well at all. It was obvious but I still had to try it. The taste was watery and off. Trust your eyes and your first thought.
