If my math is right... this tree has some wood entering it's 3rd year and I think it's likely that it died back to the ground in 15' and has been growing strong ever since.

Edit: I'm excited to know what this is... Idk about the rest of you.

Me too.
Whatever variety, it has gone through some cold weather.
The tree does not look  "big" to me.
I just hope to get a few cuttings started of it.

Never tried to root a leafed out cutting from summer growth.
I might.
Looks too small to air layer.

I need to see the fruit from their tree before I ask them to
cut on their tree.

I'm on board with the in-ground fig trees.  However, due to their size, they can't reasonably be netted and its a given squirrels and birds will discover it there, and there go your figs.

I'm thinking of a cherry tree I planted in my yard about 5 years ago.   Every year the birds pick it clean before I see a single cherry.   They even eat them before they're ripe!

With a potted fig, you can bring inside in winter to confuse the raiders, net them if necessary and also the tall pots discourage squirrels.

Am I making too big of a thing out of this?   Because in addition to this Lowe's and other hardware stores are starting to show Chicago Hardy fig trees, zone 5 ready.   I haven't seen them before but they're everywhere this year it appears.
