Inherited tree

Hi everyone,

I know little about figs...we inherited this tree when we purchased our house last summer. We had a one day freeze over the winter and the tree died back a little, but it's definitely back! We are in South Texas, so lots of sun and heat. A few questions:

1. How can I tell breba vs main crop? Can you have both at the same time? I see some figs in what looks like old growth, and I see some on new growth, so I'm confused!
2. The two figs I picked may not have been fully ripe...they had very little flavor and no real smell other than a slight "unripe" smell. These came off what looked like old growth. Breba?
3. Any idea what kind they could be? The leaves vary a lot: some have three lobes, some have five. Being a newbie, I'm not sure if I can figure it out!
4. Should I have cut off the suckers? Do I wait until it goes dormant or can I do it during the summer?

Can you post a wider shot/one of the whole tree?

Here's one of the whole tree, plus one for scale :)

It's a celeste

Adoughty, you can have breba and main crop on a tree at the same time. I bet if you let them ripen more before picking (whether breba or main), you will enjoy them. I don't have a Celeste, but read what others that do say about it, and its all good. Its a lot of people's favorite fig, especially in the south.

Thank you both :)
