Insect and type identification

I need help identifying these insects, green hopping and flying all over my figs. Need help identifying this fig from a cutting received from a friend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot see the bug too well, so I need you to go outside and tell it to pose and smile for the camera so we can get a better look. Barring that, it kind of looks like a katydid. But, of course, I could be wrong.

Does it speak English?

Looks like a leafhopper

I thought it might be a potato leaf hopper except for the distinct pinkish red lines on it. I am Finding it mostly on the new growth and End All instecide resistant. I have been seeing burn marks and holes in the leaves so need to get a handle on it. Going to look up the katydid. Don't like using pesticides but it is getting bad, attacking my plum trees, tomatoes and chilli pepper plants too.

Lol Smyfigs sadly not much of a talker hops away mostly.

Thank you so much Cheryl .... It is indeed a Clicker Katydid. Now to figure out how to get rid of it.

You are very welcome.  When I read your description of the pinkish line, I figured I must be wrong because the one I saw in the yard is all green.  So now I've learned something from you.  I'm attaching a picture of the all green one I found just for comparison.Katydid.jpg
Hmmm.  Now that I'm looking at the picture closer there is a little pink on the back.  How about that.  I've seen so many different bugs in the yard this year but I haven't noticed a lot of leaf damage.  I've read that the Katydids nibble on leaves and don't cause a lot of damage, except that they really like citrus leaves.

Anyway, good luck.

Hi shailu I think Petechanr is wright. Tiny and colored like that i think they are in the cycada familly they look like the red and green leafhoppers . Graphocephala coccinea. They are a lot smaller than the Katydids.

Porfirio:  I think you and Petechanr are correct.  Lucky me.  I've got both katydids and leaf hoppers (which I have been squishing all season thinking they were colorful grasshoppers).

Shailu:  Have you noticed your bugs walking sideways to get to the underside of the leaf when you get near?

I am so sorry to hear of your battle VeryNew2Figs. How do you manage to catch them before squishing? As I approach they hop or fly away. They do have colourful wings. I have not seen them walking sideways but will try to pay more attention to it, they mostly hang out on top of the leaves. I saw some babies today which are hanging out on the underside of the leaves. After using the insecticide without success, I thought of giving a mist of diluted epsom salt to my beloved figs and tomatoes. That got them moving but an hour later were back. So frustrated.
