I've been lurking around learning from all of you for the last year, so I figured it was about time for me to introduce myself. I've only been growing figs for a year so I know I still have a lot of learning to do.

I'd never had a fresh fig until last year, they aren't available in grocery stores around here, but once I tried one I knew I was hooked. I acquired a few small fig plants to get the hang of taking care of them. I haven't managed to kill them yet, so I think I'm on the right track. After a trip through Europe this fall where every street market had piles of large, beautiful figs I knew I wanted to expand my collection to include a few more varieties, so this year I'm trying my hand at rooting cuttings to add to my collection.

I look forward to learning from all of you!

Thanks Richie! I'm located in middle Tennessee between Nashville and Knoxville. I started out with black mission and letizia, both of which I purchased from Burpee as small plants. They seem to be growing like crazy now!

Welcome!  This is cutting season and there are a lot on ebay.  If you search the forum for ebay you'll find lists of reliable and not reliable sellers.  Good luck with your figs.

Thanks rcantor! I have already purchased a few cuttings from saxonfig through the forum, but thanks for the tip about ebay. I'm not sure I would have thought to look for fig cuttings there!
