My Ital 258,has a fruit ripening right now,and many others close to ripening.
In order to show it off before the squirrels steal it,I took a pix today.
Also a pix of the tree that grew from soil line ,to see how much it grew.
I should mention,that 2 days ago,last Wed,it was raining all day and night,about 3 inches of rain and ,we can see ,something wonderful,---No splitting!

Herman, beautiful looking fig, how many days left do you reckon we have for figs to ripen here in New Jersey?

Average ,frost date,here October 25.
It does not mean it will happen,it means it can.
I had fig tree ripening in December,but not in the last 5 years,because the climate somewhat changed,in more difficult.

We are expecting widespread frost on Sunday here in North Jersey. So far JH Adriatic & LSU Black & Negronne are still producing very good figs despite the rain. Only Negronne split a little.

8 years old,but it was killed past Winter ,because it was the coldest in 40 years.
All Wood is new.

Our "Franks Salerno unk." looks alot like that but since its a first year plant from cuttings I don't think the figs on it will ripen this year.
We are looking forward to trying some its fruit next year.

I never realized how much ital 258 resembles Adrianos Genovese Nero.

Vasile have you ever gotten ripe breba from your ital 258?

I have not personally grown this fig yet but looks like something I want I try in the future.

Nelson:Never got Breba because when in ground breba get killed by frost.
At this point it is not the right color,when ready to pick it should be much darker.

Thanks Vasile, I too have the same problems with all my inground trees even if brebas form the frosts usually make them all drop.

I have problems especially with sciatica ,right leg.

A year ago my sciatica was killing me, right side also.  Doctor prescribed stretching exercises and after month it was much better.  I realize that sort of cure is not always possible but I'm sure glad it worked for me and can sympathize for you.

Thanks Harvey,I am working to do those sciatica exercises,but I can't bend to grab my knee as it is required because I have 4 fused vertebra,in lower back so i do the best i can.
I wrote this follow up on the Only ripe Ital 258 I have at this point the one in the first posting.
Today I took it off and ,cut it in half.
It has an adorable interior color,nicest I ever seen.
It was good tasting too taking in consideration a totally cold last week with 4 inches of rain last night and yesterday.
Here is the pix of the interior,of Italian 258.
Like most others this tree died to soil line last Winter so it is remarkable that will ripe a few fruits this year,because this is a somewhat, late ripening fig in the first place.

  That fig has a great looking interior.
As for the stretching exercise...if you can't reach your knee with your hands, use a bath towel (one end in each hand) and loop the towel around your bent knee.  That will let you pull it toward you as if you could reach it with your hands.

Vasile, great photo.

I don't even remember my exercises with certainty now but I thought I laid flat on the floor (back down) and pulled my knee towards my chest, or something like that.  I'm sharing your pain.....mountain biking accident last Thursday and then hiking 12 miles the next day without much trouble but dang ankle nearly feels broken now but x-ray results today were negative, thankfully.  Time for a ice water soak....

The best person for sciatica problems is to visit a good chiropractor. Whenever I have a sciatica problem my chiropractor fix me well at most 2 visits. I listen to my family Dr and I was in pain for a month until I visited the chiropractor

That is a great looking fig, Vasile. 

You're giving me hope for some of mine that are still seeming to ripen. Like a Black Madeira that started coloring up yesterday. Also I have about 20 VdB still ripening 2 at a time (although a lot slower than before).

The diabolical squirrel has not been around, but if that Black Madeira is still on there  when I get home from work, I will be surprised! Ditto the VdBs. I also have a couple of Rockaway Greens, and a couple of Black Zadars hanging on, but I think they're too small to even hope for them to ripen.

Donna:I had 2 Violette de B,yesterday that got ripe and the squirrels did not get them,and they were delicious this year.
This is a surprise because in rainy cold years season Violette is lacking flavor usually.

Vasile, all my half ripe figs are still there!

I guess that squirrel got sick of smelling the Plantskydd.

I hear that it is going to be warm for the next couple of days so maybe I will get some. This little VdB is a real work horse.
