I grew up in a country where Jack Fruit is a national fruit. So, I know a little bit about it. Jack Fruit seeds germinate easily. I even saw little trees (about a foot tall) - already grown inside a fruit which still hanging on the tree itself. Not sure - where are you at - but it needs tropical weather to survive. Putting a pot is possible but in the nature - they grow fast and big - sometimes 30-40 feet tall and about same width. Fruiting begins when they are 4-5 years old. For the first few years - the fruits tend not to ripe at all and dries up. I seen it few times. Also, some trees produce mediocre fruits - even when they are quite old.
Good Luck.
