It's a good idea  but, I,m afraid we probably would loose a lot of good stored information  allthough when is necessary?!...
One thing we can do on our side of the fence would be, not to reply with quote to the messages with pictures or videos, that way we would not double the pictures nor videos that were posted allready.
Just answer the posting adressing the user by the username or name.
Just my opinion for what it is worth.
Sorry for intervening.

Exactly!  I have been meaning to make this point and I'm glad you made it.  In addition to the space issue, it is annoying to read through a long thread much of which consists of the same pics repeated over and over again because of replies.

If anyone wants to use the Quote option, you can always delete any part that you don't want to repeat. Like the pictures. I also think this is a good idea.

I was just saying that because I saw  messages with double listings many times.
It was just a way to make people ponder on the subject.

Only our WEBMASTER can answer that one.

Just use photobucket and paste the link in your post.  The pics a better and larger.  Even on photobucket, the pics will expire and go a way.

Really I did not know that. I think that is why it is important to store them in house. It is generally easier to post them in messages too.

If stored in house old posts do not loose meaning due to the picture being lost on some other site.

I would gladly pay a fee to maintain pictures on this site! This same thing happened on a banana forum. Members were faced with removing pictutes that were linked in posts or having to post them off site. This happened when they quit charging a yearly fee.

If you are just posting a picture of your bountiful harvest or how pretty a fig is then it could go away after awhile but if you are giving a tutorial on how you grew, rooted or grafted it's kinda important for those pics to stick around!

Jon
Does this mean after the next server reboot.  Photos can be attached to postings again as before?

imo - it is really nice to have the photo database as part of the forum.
Most photo sharing only allow a link without the preview and Photobucket is so unpredictable and intrusive.  Personally I am afraid to go on that site due to the tracking cookies and constant popups.

Perhaps there could be two levels. Free with some photo space and contributing member which offers MORE photo space. Sounds like a win for every one!

That, or we could do a fundraiser like the "other forum" ...or Jon could put up a Pay Pal link on the forum, and just for the forum...

Ultimately, it is not our decision to make...but anyone can float ideas. ;)
