I received this one from a donor several years back who obtained the cuttings through a scion exchange in the Bay area. These are the first figs that this tree has ever produced. The fig is solid, meaty, with an excellent flavor that lingers on. Just trying to authenticate the variety if anyone has the same.

Here is what Condit said in his 1955 "Fig Varieties: A Monograph"

"Tree moderately vigorous. Leaves small; deeply 3-lobed.

Brebas large, about 3-1/2 inches long and 2-1/2 inches broad, pyriform, with prominent neck and medium stalk; average weight 102 grams; eye large, open, scales violet; color greenish yellow, tinged with violet on sunny side; skin glossy, rather thick; meat thin, white; pulp rosy amber, with violet shade toward the eye; seeds rather numerous. Quality excellent; appearance fine.

Second-crop figs medium or below, about 2 inches long and 1-1/2 inches broad, pyriform, with short, thick neck; eye partly open, scales rosy; skin delicate, checking at complete maturity, green flushed with violet; pulp deep red; seeds small. Second crop negligible without caprification."

Since you don't indicate whether the pictured Figs are Breba or Main Crop, it's very hard to tell.

I suspect that it ISN'T Lampeira!  If you look at Malli Ardhaya's FigLink1110, the genetic study of the UC Davis collection, it raises the possibility that Lampeira in their collection is mislabeled.  Please see his "Family Tree" at the top of Group 9 where it is listed as a genetic match with Adriatic, clearly an impossibility as Adriatic is a Common Type Fig, and Lampeira is a San Pedro Type Fig.

Further, reading what Condit says in his Monograph about Lampeira, I get the impression he couldn't find any in California in 1955.

Leon,
Your Lampeira looks like mine, and its also from the Bay Area. It has been an excellent tree for me - regardless of its parentage. It reminds me of a deeper/better flavored King and is a strong producer.

Hi Vito:
This was an unexpected surprise for me. It is absolutely an excellent tasting fig that has surpassed the flavor and texture of any white fig in my collection thus far. Monstrueuse is a close runner up but my wife is the final word and says the Lampeira is the best.

At this point Lampeira is a very frustrating fig for me.

I bought a Lampeira off eBay 2 years ago from a reputable member. It was slow growing the first year due to my fertilizing regiment.

I switched it up this year and it grew very well with lots of figs.

Last year it gave me average sized dark figs. They were excellent and the leaf shapes matched my other portuguese varieties. I was told that this was a breba only but it produced great mains.

I'm not certain that my fig is a true "Lampeira". I'm only going by what the donor called it. These are the first figs this tree has produced so the timing of a breba or a main crop, or both has yet to be determined.
All I can tell you is that this fig is demonstrating excellent qualities so far. With all of the rain we've had in Albuquerque, this fig has not soured.
