Now we all want to hear your taste report! :-)

Really good, so far the sweetest Breba I tasted from the Spanish and Portuguese varieties! It has a different flavor, also a bit more crunchy, because of more seeds I guess. I agree with lampo in this point :)
Also quite big, so now I am even more excited about my cutting from lampo :))

Sounds really promising. Enjoy these figs while you can!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll go out and take off most of them.

You could use netting to stop that if you wanted to, no?

Hi!
Yes you're right!
The tree is very high and wide and for its size it's not very practical to set a net
and there are lots of fruit ...  so let them eat their share !

This is the main culprit. it manages to find openings
on the nets to go inside..and to get out after the rich meal !
These brebas are big/heavy  and it has to beck and chew by small pieces..
But with smaller ripe figs it developed a system to cut the fruit by its stalk
and to fly away with it for a distant party !!

What a beautiful bird. I would let it have its fill too. But I draw the line at squirrels, ants, wasps and slugs/snails. I have had to contend with them all, but now have all well under control.

Hey lampo,

do you know this variety? It was also quite sweet, but way smaller than Lampeira:

The nr2 thief far behind the blue pie is this one...

We call it - 'the fig eater'  ( Papa figos) / Golden Oriole
A migratory bird coming every spring to 'inspect' our figs !!
Here it is selecting a ripe fig.

Hello Max,
The dark fig could well be a Brown Turkey
There are breba growers here producing this variety for super markets up-North
As for the greenish fig I simply do not know!
